Update for 12/1/12!

All SFW! Even though yesterday was a fuck you friday to me, I’m pretty happy with today’s prostitutes r’ us page.

Molest the Monkey

The driving makes you gay reference comes from the ban on women being able to drive in Saudi Arabia.  One cleric said if women were able to drive it would lead to wide-spread homosexuality and prostitution. THE MORE YOU KNOOOOOW~

That’s an insult to cocks and you know it.

I’m surprised you didn’t mention how fucking ugly those maid outfits are. If I had enough money to go to an establishment that had maids and they had those uniforms I’d walk right out.

Has Axel’s hair colour changed as well? I swear it used to be red.

    • Mia says:

I know! Mustard and light blue? My god.

      • Shan says:

While the colouring is definitely a major problem, the design is also rather odd. Why do they have off-shoulder sleaves? Who is that for? They aren’t playboy bunnies, they’re strictly maids, so why are their outfits subject to fanservice? Plus I’m curious about their legs, they aren’t wearing tights… so? Horribly colour Alice shoes?

The woman on the far left on panel one has probably the best maid outfit (even then…) and I presume she’s the head maid or similar. Plus the lack of blue.

I decided to be pedantic and see if the maids appeared anywhere else because I don’t recall any. There’s one on page one and her outfit is different and half better. The colour is nicer on the eyes but the design: it drags along the ground.

Oh god. Going back to page one has made me notice other things wrong about it.

Blue and yellow can work together, they really can.

Costumer service is a big deal. Don’t underestimate it. *wags finger*

    • Oh you’re right. I’m sorry cocks!

The mustard and the blue is not a good combination. Though what bothers me is how they look a bit like tarted up Lolitas with the puffiness to the dress, the giant bow, and the bare shoulders. Maids in this time period, were supposed to intentionally blend into the background, these dresses aren’t doing it.

His hair is a different shade of red, I chalked it up to “his hair is wet” for now. (Even though nobody else’s hair got darker.) Though for me swapping skin-tones is much sloppier then swapping hair color. We’ve seen them take Greeny’s light green and make it dark green with no explanation once anyway, so that’s nothing new.

      • Shan says:

I didn’t pick up on the lolita vibe, I do see it. I thought they were channeling the sexy French maid, but there’s maid-lolitas so… there we go.

Maybe the dresses are supposed to be camoflague. Stealth maids.

True enough – I don’t care enough to notice skin colour outside of “they’re white”. I didn’t notice the green hair difference because she has so little time it didn’t register in my mind because she’s the “green-haired bimbo”. Whereas Axel is the tattoo red-haired one so for him to go brunette baffles me.

I was thinking it was down to “his hair is wet so it’s darker” but it’s not wet. It’s still “styled” and there’s no droplets. Maybe he used cheap dye and it washed out. Same goes for his fake tan. That’s now canon.

I think if the whores weren’t color coded I would have thought they were completely different people. They all look really different from past appearances. Maybe thats just me, but none of the characters have very defining characteristics besides their hair and I’d be confused if it was in black and white.

I’m not sure what would be worse though, this comic in black in white or how it is with the really bizarre color choices…

    • cc says:

Funnily enough if it were done completely in B&W they might have actually bothered to make better character designs- I’ve found that some artists use colors as a design crutch.

    • I’m with you on that. While they diffierniate features a little here and there, if the hair color was taken out of the picture it’d still be tough to tell them apart. Rhys, Axis, Rory, Mercutio, and Sacha all have similar hair cuts and three of those characters are supposed to be MAIN characters.

  3. akitotheakita says:

So much is off on this page…

Axis and everybody on this page look like completely different person…The creators are getting extra sloppy.

Everybody knows that Teahouse does not need anymore drama/time-wasting but it is hilarious how they offscreen’d the fate of Red’s sister.

    • Anonymous says:

I found that incredibly jarring and annoying. Her plotline was left hanging for AGES, and then she shows up again and we’re expected to just assume what happened?

      • cc says:

“THIS COUNTS AS SHOWING, NOT TELLING, RIGHT?!” Is probably what the creators were thinking.

      • I wouldn’t say it was hanging for ages. Yet last we saw her she was the center of a cliffhanger, then when she shows up now, you could have easily not noticed her? HOW DO YOU WANT TO PORTRAY HER PLOT-LINE AUTHORS? YOU HAVE TO PICK ONE!

        • Anonymous says:

Maybe not ages, but it was about 17 pages ago we last saw her and for a comic that updates as infrequently as this one does it seems pretty clear that they just wanted to focus on the characters they find more interesting. A.k.a. the dudes.

    • It’s no suprise since Claret’s hair went from light to dark green out of the blue.

It’s not surprising they “off screened” it, since the core of Pinky/Pimpy’s relationship issues has yet to be on screen even if its brought up 5 times or so. I hope next page Rory talks with his sister a little bit explaining why she’s there, or at least a little on their actual relationship for crying out loud. Though I am not holding my breath.

  4. cc says:

Not going to lie, I was going to attempt to try and give a crude recolor to TONE THE MAULED COLOR THEORY DOWN, but I ended up giving up because too much effort and I just don’t care enough. I know what color theme they were going for with the maids’ uniforms (it’s the colors of the house).

Anyway, the best part of the original page was the lame attempt at worldbuilding. (No “drama” or factors that would affect the politics inside whorehouse are in effect outside of the whorehouse, so why should we bother talking about things that happen outside of it at all? Prince is already stirring up enough drama with being the worst heir ever without the additional “info” that the current king is dying or whatever.)

    • Shan says:

If you ever decide on doing a recolour, could you make one of the speaking characters non-caucasian? The authors appear to be having trouble with this and I wanted to see how tough it really was.

      • cc says:

Changing skin color isn’t difficult, but redrawing anyone’s facial features to be something other than anime Caucasian would mean I might “accidentally” give someone a differing/defining face. (Not that that’s a bad thing but far be it for me to redraw TH)

        • Shan says:

A face shape other than anime caucasian? Next you’ll be telling me there are other chins as well.

TH isn’t worth the effort. The authors certainly don’t think so anyway.

          • cc says:

If there’s a page with a slightly more limited palette, I’ll give it a shot, so look forward to that maybe?

    • The color toning down would be interesting to see, but I understand the effort is too much.

The thing that got me is that this exact sloppy attempt at world-building was tried before with near the exact same response. Way to keep us learning the same fucking thing over again!

      • cc says:

Hey wait, speaking of that, didn’t Claret get to hang out with Princey himself (the “omg what a good kisser” page?) why didn’t SHE ask him then?

        What the fuck???

Oh Claret I think I know why you’re so confused, you got lost in the wrong comic! (I swear she has a monopoly on the world-building questions but I could be wrong!)

  5. akitotheakita says:

Random thought but I just realized how much of a horrid idea is it to have only one bodyguard, who is an albino, yet there are 6+ maids.

    • cc says:

Perhaps the maids are the real bodyguards and the albino is the overpaid nursemaid of the whores.

Ah, pardon, I accidentally made the setup amusing.

  6. Wat says:

I find the original “getting sucked off” line a lot more concerning than anything.

Who would pay a whore…and then suck them off?

    • Shan says:

Am I the only one freaked out by Axel’s arse? That right cheek is deformed.

      • JID says:

I think it’s supposed to be a manry muscly dent.
…Which makes me wonder if he’s flexing his ass while undressing but well, I wouldn’t put it past him…
Even stranger: He has a towel, he dries of, he’s still wet.
Either that or he just dried his right armpit and then thougt it more important to show his assdimpel.

        • Shan says:

Diarrhea can strike at any time. *shakes head* Poor Axel, he’s probably trying to hold it in and putting on a brave face.

If anything he gets wetter as the scene progresses.

  7. Lilly says:

What’s bothering the authors to not give a major POC character besides Axis (I think he’s more artificially tanned than naturally tan) and those maids in this ‘alternate universe’ setting, I wonder? Oh, and aren’t the maids’ uniform used to be longer and more formal?

    • I wouldn’t really consider Axis to be a POC character cause they’ve made no mention that he wasn’t born in whitey white country, and his skin tone fluctuates so often its hard to tell what it’s actually supposed to be. I really wouldn’t be suprised if tanning booths existed in this time period with the way they’re building themshelves up.

The maid outfits did used to be longer and more formal looking. WELP!
